Russian security forces have caught some Russian scientists who are supposed to be mining Bitcoin in the Russian Federal Center in Sarov, intended to store nuclear tips. Suspects are supposed to use one of the most powerful supercomputers in Russia for mining Bitcoins.
According to the spokespersons, the supercomputers should not be connected to the Internet for security purposes, and the suspects triggered a security alarm. Scientists who mined on a supercomputer with the power of a PETAFLOP and with the capacity of thousands of billions of computational operations per second.
About 20,000 people work in the nuclear center, where is one of the most powerful supercomputers in the country. Otherwise, it is a strictly protected object protected by a barbed wire. During the Cold War, Sarov under the rule of Josip Stalin even developed the first nuclear bomb. The city was even so secretive that it was not even marked on the maps of the Soviet Union, and more permits still need to be visited today.
When any new information about this crime comes out, I will notify you immediately. Personally, I am interested in how much the BTC was mined, until they were caught :)
@originalworks Interesting article! I wonder if big companies like Google who have lots of powerful computers are going to start mining cryptocurrencies while the computers aren't being used. I'm definitely upvoting and following you! In a few seconds, you should see that I paid a bot (@vempromundo) to upvote your post!

Hey There :)
Thank You for your comment, upvote, and bot :)
Maybe Google already silently mined BTC... U never know :)
It would be profitable. But depending on all their profit....in their minds that would be "waste of time". Or maybe I'm wrong. But the profits of Google are extremely high - year after year.
This will get interesting with quantum computing coming up :D resteemed
