The Hardware Behind XYO Networks

If you have yet to hear about XYO Networks, you will be in the very near future. The company likes to use the motto "bridging the real world with block-chain technology". I could not think of a better motto for them if I tried. I am so impressed with the team, product and network. This is as top ICO for 2018 and deserving of the praise it has received to date.

In this article I will focus on the hardware side of the business. I would like to write a few articles about this company because there are so many points to touch upon.

For the past six years this team has been hard at work developing the platform and hardware devices. They have devolved a piece of hardware that is functional, cost effective and looks great.

The XYO network consist of four main part components. I will explain these further in another post but right now will focus on only sentinels. Sentinels locate anything they are attached to. There are currently two models, the XY GPS or the XY4 +.

XY4 +

The XY4 + is a Bluetooth enabled devices that connects to your phone and is used to track assets within range. The XY4 + boosts the longest range and best battery life of any unit on the market. These devices are available through their website or on Amazon. Available in eight different colors and with data included in some packages, its an awesome deal. This model is perfect for attaching to drones, keys, the dog or countless other things. To date the company has sold over a million of these devices.

XY GPS

The XY GPS has cellular and Bluetooth capabilities and is also available in a variety of colors. The devices would be attached to an asset you are looking to track anywhere in the world. Using this GPS/cellular connection and applying it to the block-chain you get the XYO network.

How Does the XYO Network Work?

Once you connect one of the hardware devices to the network, the sentinels report their location by taking a "selfie". A bridge would then send that location information to an archivist for storage. A cellphone could act as both a sentinel and a bridge due to its various connection types. When a query is submitted through a smart contract, the archivist would then provide its data. This returned information would include a location and confidence level back to the user .

This proof of location technology that was added to XYO Networks when GEO was integrated into the platform.

The company is also developing miners that will be released very shortly. More information is provided on the website and there is an email signup form to be updated once released.

The network will be expanding very soon as the company is looking to launch a low earth orbit satellite to further expand the XYO Network. A date has yet to be announced for this launch but it will be sooner than we think.

Conclusion:

I have spent a long time working in IT and on a daily basis had to track small assets like laptops and larger ones like skid-steers and heavy equipment. I had exposure to many GPS systems and hardware units. I look at the problems those system had and how many can be addressed with the XYO Networks model and hardware. I am very excited for the future of this company and will be following them as they bring us the world of tomorrow.

The hardware looks great, and I see endless possibilities for its applications. I plan to write three more articles focusing on different parts of the company and I hope you will read them as well.
