The IEBS business school in Spain has become the first online educational initiative focused on business, accepting cryptocurrencies as a method of payment in the world, recently announced that its Masters and Postgraduate students will be able to pay for tuition with bitcoins.

Students at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Business School (IEBS) will now be able to pay the equivalent of the Euro equivalent of their postgraduate or online diploma with BTC. This adoption follows the innovative line that the company has taken in the search of obtaining payment alternatives different from traditional methods.

"Cryptocurrencies is an essential part of the school's strategy to change payment methods and offer alternatives to currency exchange."

According to the information provided by IEBS, the education offered by this online education institute is not limited to customers within Spain, so ensuring a fixed price - established under the same exchange rate - for international customers in their local currency is one of the challenges they face, and wants to overcome by including bitcoin as a payment alternative accessible worldwide.

Although this is the first time that an educational institute accepts bitcoins, it is not the first time that cryptocurrencies and education come together in Spain; since throughout the year there have been multiple educational initiatives on blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

In the last two years, initiatives related to the european country's cryptocurrencies environment have increased. However, most of them are projects or researches that use blockchain technology to revolutionize banking and financial services.

An example of this is the Master of the University of Alcalá dedicated to the Ethereum block chain, intelligent contracts and the economics of the cryptoecosystem. Workshops have also been held to immerse Spaniards in information about digital coins and the blockchain.
