The ‘banknotes’ will carry their value in bitcoin on a chip inside each note and are available in denominations of 0.01 BTC ($98) and 0.05 BTC ($485) at launch.

It is a good idea. Actually stupid in some sense, but it hides good benefits. As you said the average Joe may feel more tempted to invest if the BTC becomes something tangibleand it can give a good lesson to people about the paper money they use daily, that is, it will be much easier for them to understand why fiat money is not better than cryptos at all and that its value only, and just like that the BTC, is based on trust.
