The Bulgarian government has seized 213,519 bitcoins worth more than $3 billion and nobody knows what’s going on with them.
According to a report from the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC), earlier this year the Bulgarian authorities have confiscated 213,519 bitcoins and Bitcoin Cash worth more 3 billion dollars by today’s price list. This was in result of their successful investigation named PRATKA/VIRUS in the field of cybercrime, committed by compromising the countries Customs computerized systems in order to avoid and save taxes.
Reporters from Bivol.bg have made an official request to the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs to release details about the public wallet keys of the seized coins. The Bulgarian government declined to release further details, citing an ongoing criminal investigation.
The following question arises: Is this a grand success in cyber crime investigation, or just a political bubble made of fake news?
According to Bivol.bg there is a hypothesis that the Bulgarian government might actually not have the private keys (passwords) to the coins, which makes them useless. Therefore, they didn’t actually “seize” the coins.
What are your thoughts on this subject?
HODL and keep the private keys you retards :D so they might need a quantum computer to break some SHA's seriously thou finding passwords is a mess :D if they had some encryption on the wallets it's even tougher, unless somebody had left the recovery files, well who knows what wallets were used anyways. Fun times,
You know how we roll :D :D :D
