Analyst Tom Lee recently pointed out (in a CNBC clip) that bitcoin is not especially widely held at this point. His analysis reveals there are only about 300,000 holders of at least $5,000 USD worth of bitcoin.

I wish we had data on holders whose wallets have smaller sums. In any case it will be interesting to see what the future holds as that 14% figure grows along with the more pervasive knowledge of bitcoin and it's use cases.
