RUNCOIN Distribution Round One: Post Your Strava Race and Get $1 Worth Of Tokens 🏃🏻
My little RUNCOIN experiment continues.
I see that the orders placed on OpenLedger were filled quite fast (to my surprise) which means there is some demand for this. People actually buy RUNCOIN :)
So, on top of just buying it on OpenLedger, you can, as of today, to get it as a direct reward, transferred directly into your OpenLedger account, if you post your Strava race (a screenshot + link, because I hate photoshoped screenshots) and some way for me to prove that you are the person which actually ran that race.
For each running activity you get $1 worth of RUNCOIN (between 3 and 4 tokens at the current price). I will also need your OpenLedger account so I'll know where to send it.
Let's summarize:
- $1 worth of RUNCOIN per activity (running activity, that is)
- proof of run must be submitted, in the comments: screenshot + link + proof of identity
- proofs of run must be newer than the date of this post
- OpenLedger account so I know where to transfer the tokens
- all transactions will be published here, on Steemit
- time window for this distribution is July 10th (everything posted after that will not be eligible for rewards)
- if this goes well, I will keep a weekly distribution round for at least 3 months, until enough data is gathered to devise a better (automated?) way to do this
How This All Started And How Much Did I Invest?
I want to keep this as transparent as possible, so I will document my activities as often as I can. Here's the screenshot of the transaction in which RUNCOIN was created, on the Bitshares blockchain.
The total investment from my part was 607 BTS, roughly 180 USD. Since then, I've been doing mainly market making, which means placing a few buy and sell orders, to provide a bit of liquidity.
The total amount of RUNCOIN issued so far is:
- 88 on June 30th
- 888 on July 3rd
RUNCOIN has a limited supply of 8,888,888 tokens (out of which 88,000 are reserved for network maintenance).
I'm curious how this will play out, how many people will find RUNCOIN useful and, why not, how the price will evolve.
Let's run and play :)

If you're new to Steemit, you may find these articles relevant (that's also part of my witness activity to support new members of the platform):
This is a very dangerous concept - paying people to get outdoors and run.
It could lead to a whole lot of people getting fit and healthy. And then what would all the drug companies, and supplement companies do?
I think in all seriousness, that there is a huge potential in this.
When you see what people will do for a small incentive, like money, this could be the might solution to get people motivated, and keep them motivated when it is cold and horrible outside, or they just can't be bothered.
The lure of earning some cash while they run, might just be enough to overcome the obstacles that keep them from continuing.
Well done on coming up with this.
I truly hope it is a great success. ;-)
Thanks and looking forward to see your races. I'd be very happy to see you as the first one to receive a RUNCOIN. And then, if it really evolves into a successful project, you would be like the founder fathers, or something :)
Thank you very much. I will follow you because your advice is worth gold for beginners like me.
Shame you don't include cycling I've been busy on strava this year with my bike!
Sorry, mate. Cycling not my thing. I entertain the idea of doing an Iron Man someday, but until the. I'll stick to running.
