Report: Deutsche Bank Doesn't Bash Bitcoin, And How This Is Even News

in #bitcoin8 years ago

The current media landscape is in a pretty bad shape. The rise of fake news and disguised propaganda, paired with the lack of education of social media users who started to mistake opinion for news created a whirlwind of toxic storms. It manifests in all major life sectors, from politics to economics.

Alas, Bitcoin wasn't spared and it had its fair share of bad propaganda, market manipulation and just plain FUD attacks.

In this context, finding a serious report, published by a serious bank (Deutsche Bank) which doesn't bash Bitcoin, well, I consider this being news. Even big news.

The report was published in the EU Monitor and it was tagged as "Deutsche Bank Research", which turns it into an official position of that institution. It's twelve page long and it's one of the most well documented pieces of research I found on the topic.

I will just leave here a few excerpts from the conclusion:

Bitcoin opens the door to an alternative, decentralised financial, economic and social structure. The potential disruptive consequences of the blockchain technology are overwhelming, but so is the complexity of the issue. At the moment, there are numerous questionable analogies and erroneous assumptions. It will take some time until the discussion becomes more informed.

And, obviously, my preferred one:

It remains to be seen whether bitcoin remains the predominant cryptocurrency or is replaced by its competitors by then.

If you want to have a look at it, here's the link again.

Hi @dragosroua,

as always an very informative post, thank you.

I fully agree with you on the topic of "fake news"
Nearly all news nowadays can be seen as fake news I think.
The fact that journalists not just bring the news objectively but color it with their opinion can allready be misleading.
Of course: this is going on for decades, probably centuries ( in the old days an emperor had the bringer of bad news executed often )

But lately it has become the general idea that fake news exists, purposely spread.
(as if this is something new)

What bothers me is that most people tend to believe this and that they might agree with the idea of some sort of "Ministrie of truth" like what the European Union now tries to do in Brussels...

This is a direct copie of George Orwells 1984.
What a genius he was!

It's nice to see a major bank considering the ramifications of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. I can't exactly see BTC being displaced immediately. I do see other cryptocurrencies like Steem and ETH becoming more prevalent as they fulfill other important functions that BTC does not provide.

I would love it if Deutsche Bank failed since I think the Whole OLD FIAT System must DIE so that we can live as FREE Humanity with the Crypto's. That's my thoughts @dragosroua

Thanks for sharing that PDF. I'm definitely going to give it a read. It's always interesting to see what professional economists have to say about the future of cryptocurrencies. Nowadays, it's mostly amateurs talking and it's hard to have a glimpse at the truth of the matter.

I'm alraedy rooting for crypto 2.0 and a time when bitcoin will not be the dominant cryptocurrency. There are already enough competitors that are superior and a more egalitarian crypto space without a clear leader is always going to be be better for everybody.

From my humble opinion the increases in the difficulty of mining, the cost of commissions have been depleting the interest in bitcoin, no doubt moves away every day from their money ideology to the control of all, bitcoin is now undoubtedly gold 2.0 and with the increase in the equal value will be the 2.0 oil, who currently carries bullion or barrels in their portfolios, only being a Jeque.

The world of cryptocurrencies is creating the world of money 2.0 and must be preceded by humans 2.0 bone a revolution of how we see the administration and spending in our economies.

Until Segwit is widely accepted, the disadvantages of Bitcoin are going to logically be much bigger than those of mainstream cryptocurrencies. It's sad to see the first of the kind die because of the negligence of enterprises based on it.

Yes, you have a lot of reason, being the bitcoin one of the most significant advances in the history of humanity, we do not stop being that, "human" power and many other very human feelings cloud projects like these.

There is no doubt that many times the evils in society we deserve it without a doubt.

It's a nice post..we want to see another post ..just love it!!
