Have A Revolut Card? Now You'll Have Bitcoin In It Too

in #bitcoin7 years ago

And not only Bitcoin, but also Litecoin and Ethereum. This will be possible because of a partnership announced today between Bitstamp and Revolut, which will allow card holders to exchange cryptos for fiat instantly.

The interesting part about this is that if you don't have fiat funds in your Revolut card, but you have crypto, you'll be able to make fiat payments transparently, because the crypto-fiat exchange will happen in the background, at "the best possible rate". Other Bitcoin debit card need an extra step (called "top up" or "load") in which you have to manually exchange cryptos into a fiat account and then from that fiat account to move funds to the card.

Also, the partnership will allow Revolut users to send cryptos to each other free of charge. This smells a bit like a Raiden Network, but no technical announcement was made abut that.

Although it feels small, I find these types of tiny, but extremely significant improvements, like not having to do 2-3 operations if you can just do one, very good for the mainstream adoption of cryptos.

As a matter of fact, we're not talking about adoption here, but about blending: you get the best of both worlds.

hmm thats indeed very interesting :)

Very interesting...i guess crypterium.io trying to achieve similar thing.

That is incredible @dragosroua as it should help inspire more people to check out cyptocurrency as well. I am new to all of this and have yet to do any of the exchanges but resteemed because I think there are many out there in the Steemian world who will want to have access.

The presentation at their site excites even me. My only concern now is that I may have to venture in to the world of the "smart phone" to access the app. Is this true or can it be done on a laptop?

you need an app

This is awesome news and very exciting. I would be interested to see how they're going to guarantee the "best possible rate"

By looking at the app I can see their rate is changing every second (or faster) so probably they take the best rate at every moment. But it's not a guarantee, obviously.

I guess litecoin would perform better in real life payment scenarios

revolut is bringing the revolution with so many new things

Cryptos are getting ready to be more involved in our daily life.
Small but important improvements have been introduced gradually. One improvement would be to completely overcome fiat-crypto exchange barrier.

exactly what I need for Steem.
is it banned in the USA?

I don't think so. Here's the link: https://www.revolut.com/ro/?lang=en

But this thing only allows BTC, LTC and ETH, so you'll have to change your STEEM into one of the before putting it on your card.

Just checked the link
gaaaaaa!
that website looks like it was designed by a ferret on crystal meth.
why do they make it so HARD to find any damn thing?

:)))))

@everittdmickey LOL yeah indeed designed by a ferret. hahaha

looks like it's legal in the US.
now if I can just navigate the minefield and set it up.

I did it in less than 90 seconds, just start with that phone number thing and it will all fall into places.

I'm reluctant to give them my phone number.
I'll have to think about that.

that's what BlockTrades is for.
thanks for the link

I am just hearing about revolut.

The more crypto become just a background thing, the more adoption it will get I think.

if I don't have to think about it, just use it, then i will use it more.

I'll even go looking for ways to use it.

The smart money is not in alt coins i think - the smart money is in the tech and hardware that makes alt coins invisible to end users and enables them to buy coffee anywhere, anytime.
