Coinbase To Integrate SegWit By "Mid Next Week"

in #bitcoin6 years ago

In a tweet posted less than a day ago, Coinbase announced their support for Bitcoin SegWit (or "Segregated Witness"), an improvement included in the latest Bitcoin Core version, release on February 15th.

SegWit will decrease both processing times and transaction fees, so I would place this news into the "good guys" camp.

Still unclear why the market didn't react happily to that.

Time for a Bitcoin bull run?

I hope the Lightning Network has a sudden breakthrough and releases on the main-net in a couple of months :)

It on mainet just not safe to use. So no more vaporware now!!

I'm not using Coinbase, even if they implement Segwit or not. You shouldn't too, they have harmed bitcoin for to long.

I agree Coinbase sucks and crypto in the states as well as many other places is too centralized because of it. Can't wait til we have more options but the reality is for many people its their only option or the easiest option

Maybe there are some bad actors at play in this space... It would only take a million dollar cash bribe to convince someone to let their network stay in such an archaic state. It has been MONTHS of extra fees going to miners so there is definitely a motive for manipulation here.

Coinbase has been working against Bitcoin and deliberate making the fees more expensive and transactions slower.
I'm surprised they implement anything that benefits Bitcoin.

I think the CEO is a Bitcoin Cash guy if I'm not mistaken

Bitcoin has a great potential. We see now that it took a while for Segwit to become adopted (almost) by such large companies as Coinbase. Lightning network will also take a while to become more widespread. Those who are aware of these developments can take positions in BTC in anticipation of improvement in its tech and price :)

wow....Bitcoin has huge potential in the future. There are good prospects for those who continue to be good with bitcoin and are completely irresponsible.........♦keep it up♦

We Will wait and see, what is the market reacted after it launching...

Yeah good news, It was overdue for sometime...High transaction fee are indeed irritating....A jammed BTC network is also cumbersome for many investors...So yeah good news!

good news for all......

thank you!

@dragosroua,

Some of the best news coming from coinbase in a long time!! All we need them to do is adopt the lightning network for all transactions and hopefully see our fees dramatically reduce, well that’s is of course if the other big platform adopt it also. We need mass adoption of Segwit in order to make it truly viable and benefit from the low transaction fees, what will the BTC miners do next ........

SegWit will decrease both processing times and transaction fees, so I would place this news into the "good guys" camp.

Could you publish some data on this matter in a future post?
