After almost a year, Bitwala, a fintech startup which had to step back because of VISAGATE, is finally re-launching their crypto-friendly banking services, a blog post on the company pages announced today.

According to the blog post, at the moment of VISAGATE, there were more than 40,000 card customers. For those, and for anyone else who signs up, Bitwala is offering again access to an IBAN in Germany, along with debit cards and a Bitcoin wallet.

And, as you can see from the screenshot above, all deposits in EUR up to €100,000 are protected by the German Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DGS).

I've been using Bitwala cards and services until they had to shut down, and although rates were high, the overall experience was good, didn't have any nightmares with funds lost, as it happened with other players in the field. All in all, Im happy they're re-launching and look forward to be re-enrolled (they are starting only in Germany for now, but expanding fast in other EU countries as well).

After Bankera recently announced the closed launch of their exchange a couple of days ago, another fintech startup is waking up from the dead and hit the markets. I find all these news very encouraging, and quite afar from the regular FUD that is buzzing into mainstream media these days.
