Pay For Your Starbucks With Bitcoin

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Starbucks announced the official integration awhile back, but now their customers can officially pay with bitcoin for their goods. Specifically, it's the chain's app which has partnered with iPayYou in order to let the users pay with bitcoin instead of USD or some other currency.

The transfer is said to account for any exchange rates with bitcoin automatically, whenever the user decides to send the cryptocurrency in a transfer in order to pay for their items.

In order to pay for starbucks this way, users are supposed to have an iPayYou account registered and the Starbucks application on their phone. iPayYou is marketed as a platform that allows users to spend their bitcoin on a wide variety of gift cards, they can also buy or sell bitcoin, transfer funds to Amazon and more.

This video here describes how to start using the two in order to pay for the starbucks:

The iPayYou doesn't require you to generate a new Starbucks card, but it enables you to transfer funds (by using the BTC) to the existing card, by using the iPayYou platform. It's no doubt going to be a convenient feature for those who'd prefer to use their cryptocurrency in order to get their morning cup of coffee.

Bitcoin sure has come a long way in availability as far as what users can purchase with the coin. From the very first purchase that was made with bitcoin, which was said to be for two pizzas at 10,000 BTC (which wasn't worth much back then but today would be over $12 million), to today you can now pay for airfare, hotels, clothing, and much more.

That's good news. I have boycotted Starbucks because they are a big contributor to Monsanto and GMO's. They helped stop the legislation that would have required GMO labeling in the U.S.. I have not been in their stores since. Goodbye Starbucks and hello Seattle Coffee

Great news. I really like to pay bitcoin. I am glad that there are more opportunities for payment.

Interesting. I also read somewhere about Daimler is going to use Bitcoin.
Cool!

Yeah that is a nice way to make it happen, transfer funds to a wallet and use that for shopping, we could scratch credit cards in a short while, hopefully people will stop piling up debt sometime soon, maybe even evaluate their production of trash and pollution with chemicals and all the rest of that good jazz

This is interesting from accounting perspective though you can say it is as simple as putting in a new currency, some exchange rate need to be maintained between Bitcoin and USD in the case of Starbucks.

I have never tried iPayYou APP yet, is it similar to the Gyft APP?

It's a good news)

Upvoted.
Funny though... BlockPay could have allowed them to accept any cryptocurrency (not just BTC), offer Loyalty Points and eReceipts, AND allow their customers to use their crypto wallet of choice.

very interesting! But in Israel this is not yet ;(
