Game Of Thrones: Battles for the throne of Bitcoin and control of its destiny

One of my favorite shows Game of Thrones is returning next months with season seven. I am not going to talk about this show, I am here to talk about another game of thrones, that is upcoming potential coup in the bitcoin world. THIS IS BIG. This might be the end of the status quo for bitcoin.
It is not secret bitcoin is the King of the cryptocurrency and blockchain world. While Litecoin has maintained for years to be silver if bitcoin is gold, others such as Ether definately aiming to take down bitcoin and put the crown of the CryptoKing. What is interesting though, rivals of bitcoin do not have to move a finger for this opportunity, because bitcoin has a war within.
August 1, 2017 in my opinion will be significantly disturbing in cryptocurrency world one way or another. So what is going on? Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 148, User Authorized Soft Fork is coming August 1, 2017. THIS IS HUGE, regardless which camp you belong to. It will affect everybody who has stakes in blockchain coins, and not only those who have stakes in bitcoin.
For details about BIP148 go to http://www.uasf.co.
I would like to share some of the important points related to this event. Conflicts of opinion about the future of bitcoin within the community has been aroud for years. There are many parties involved: mainly miners, users, and developers. Even within these groups there are disagreements. Why is BIP 148 UASF important? Because it is happening soon and this is not just talk or bluff.
Regardless what you decide to do if you have bitcoins you need to take proper actions prior to August 1 to make sure your assets are secure. Those who don't are at risk of losing them all. Please go to the following like for beginners guide of surviving BIP148. https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitcoin-beginners-guide-surviving-bip-148-uasf/
Users in favor of BIP148 are not happy with miners for various reasons, mainly big transaction fee and some miners getting too big causing fear of centralized mining. Main villan in this game goes by name of Jihan.
Jihan Wu is the co-founder Bitmain and maintains AntPool which holds the largest hashrate distribution amongst mining pools. Bitmain develops and sells world's leading bitcoin miners using Bitmain's ASIC chip technology. Big rage is about their AsicBoost technology, which gives them edge over other ASIC manifacturers, since their AsicBoost has a way of mining 30% more than their competitors and they hold panents for that.
AsicBoost allows miners to take a “shortcut.” Instead of blindly hashing as many variations of a block as possible, AsicBoost lets miners reuse a certain calculation in the hash process across several tries. This saves some 15 to 30 percent of energy. AsicBoost can be used in two ways: overtly and covertly. Overt use would be obvious to anyone; it’s easily detected by looking at the blocks a miner produces. Covert use, however, is much harder, if not impossible, to detect. Only covert use is largely incompatible with SegWit.
At the same time there is phylosophical differences. There are those who want to keep bitcoin immutable, and there are those who believe SegWit is important for the futur of the bitcoin.
Since Bitcoin is the reserve currency for rest of the alt coins, this event will have significant impact on other coins, including steem. However, I do recognize this would only be temporary impact on prices, it is hard to tell which direction they will go, and how long the impact will last. This might mean the end of bitcoin as we know it, the shape in which it will reemerge remain a mystery.
If you already have decided what you are going to do, stick to it, just make sure are prepared, and watch carefully how events unfold. Since I am one of those who is not sure what to with my coins, I have decided to cash out and stay in sidelines until tides settle and possible seize new opportunities :).
As I am sure I have missed many other details involving this event, I hope you guys can share, and please let me know your thoughts on this.
Thank You for reading and Good Luck!
