The number of bitcoin addresses with a non-zero balance is 28.4 million, however, their owners are approximately 23.1 million entities. Such data leads the analytical company Glassnode.

A Glassnode study emphasized that the growth in the number of cryptocurrency holders is linear and monotonous, which is a sign of a mature market. The spikes in the increase in the number of bitcoin addresses are associated with the activity of existing cryptocurrency users.

Glassnode experts also noted that the daily net growth of new cryptocurrency owners has always been positive.

“So far, there has been only 21 days in the history of bitcoin, during which the growth of new entities was negative,” the report says.

The largest holders of the first cryptocurrency with a balance of more than 100 thousand BTC were seven exchanges:

Coinbase (983,800 BTC);
Huobi (369,100 BTC);
Binance (240,700 BTC);
Bitfinex (214,600 BTC);
Bitstamp (165,400 BTC);
Kraken (132,100 BTC);
Bittrex (118 100 BTC).
In total, they control more than 2.35 million BTC, or about 13% of the total number of coins. Two weeks ago, this figure was 10%.

In total, about 1910 entities own more than 1,000 BTC, and 75 Bitcoin owners have a balance of over 10,000 BTC.

Previously, Glassnode researchers calculated that the number of addresses with a balance of more than 1 BTC per year increased by 11%.
