Well the difference is that you aren't investing in the car - you are buying it to use it. If you're buying a cryptocurrency to use it, then yes - same rule of not needing to know much applies. But investing implies some understanding beyond what the market understands so you have an edge against the masses, at which point will ultimately be corrected in your favor.
