Google Now Shows a Crypto-friendly Attitude
Google Now Shows a Crypto-friendly Attitude
After Facebook loosened its ban again in mid-June Google now follows. You can now once again find advertising for crypto projects in the network. The easing coincides with the announcement of separate partnerships in the Blockchain area.
The decision of Facebook, Google and Twitter to ban advertising for blockchain-based projects attracted much hostility in the crypto world. It gave the impression that the tech giants wanted to keep start-ups and new projects small. In addition, it was speculated that the big companies may even work on their own blockchain products and therefore a general ban on advertising pronounced.
Guidelines are apparently interpreted differently
The wording of Google's guidelines has not changed. While the directive was designed a week ago so that no more crypto projects could be advertised, this has changed in the meantime. Now you can promote crypto projects, conferences and blockchain products again. However, the ban on ICOs and other forms of investment still applies. Previously, the de facto ban was implemented by stop words. If certain terms such as "Blockchain" or "Crypto" were used, the ad was not approved. This also meant that the advertising ban could be avoided. Now it is speculated that Google has a whitelist. This would require Google to further examine advertised projects.
Why is Google lifting the ban now?
Interesting is the time that Google has chosen to release crypto advertising again. Because on the 25th of July Google presented its partnerships with the start-ups Digital Asset and BlockApps at the conference Google Cloud Next in San Francisco. In addition, the tech giant has now moved to Facebook for the second time. Facebook lifted its ban at the end of June.
