Genesis Mining Hacked! (Payouts Starting To Come)
If you have an account on Genesis Mining, you've probably noticed that you haven't been getting paid since July 21st. Up until yesterday, they were telling everyone that it was a maintenance issue and they were working to get everyone paid.
Update
On July 26th, they released an update on their website, stating their mining system was hacked (specifically a hot wallet containing mining funds). They go into detail on when they noticed the attacker (July 21st), and immediately shut them down. Since then, they've "...enhanced [their] monitoring and detection capabilities" and assured that their mining operation was not affected, nor was any sensitive consumer information exposed. They said they've been able to "...resume daily payouts, and all missing payouts from the last week will be paid out in the coming days."

Summary
This provides a sense of relief to anyone who thought their money had disappeared. With that said, it goes to show that no matter how safe something appears to be, there is always vulnerability. Luckily, Genesis Mining was able to stop the attacker immediately and reimburse its customers. Although it still brings up the issue of the susceptibility of online businesses and to never invest what you can't afford to lose.
I actually contacted the support network with an inquiry about this problem. They said they were working on it. I am very satsfied with the service and my payouts have resumed since the inquiry.
