Cryptojacking is when someone mines crypto currency on your pc via a website using javascript. This then results in your pc burning additional power in cpu/gpu processing time. Later, you get a slightly higher than expected power bill. If you didn't know any better you wouldn't even notice this happening, you would just think geewiz this pc is getting slow.

Fortunately cryptojacking reveals itself when in action. For it to work, it needs to use a very noticeable amount of your cpu/gpu power, enough that it might make your pc's fan switch on or slow down your entire system.

If something like this happens to you and you suspect a cryptojacking, pull up your task manager on windows or activity monitor on mac and search for "activity monitor". If your web browser is pulling a high percentage of cpu/gpu power, there might be a cryptojacker at work. Simply close down the websites and test it again to confirm.
