Commits generally occur when there is an enhancement, bug fixing or the initial development phases have not been finished yet. But if you take a copycat of a working source code, you won't see any a lot of commits.
fair point Sir... I would add that there are some outstanding issues that people are waiting for fixes on... about 5 open issues ranging from 45 to 8 days ago... so there is something for them to do... But I agree with your point
