How to buy Ethereum? It depends on where you're located and local regulations. If you don't own any cryptocurrency, you'd need to register on a cryptocurrency exchange and purchase Ethereum with your local fiat currency after you transfer it there. If you have coins already like Bitcoin, you can simply swap them (location depending) in a wallet such as Exodus for a small fee, which is what @craig-grant was using above.
