Bitcoin Might NOT Split After All....For Now At Least

in #bitcoin7 years ago

I just came across this Associated Press article on ABC News that says a new agreement has been reached.

You can read the full article with the highlighted link above, however the main concern is in the first and last paragraphs which read:

"A move by users to force a change in the computer code by Monday has worked. A majority of "miners" — the core bitcoin users who verify bitcoin transactions around the world — has signaled support. Though the change is designed to improve capacity on the increasingly clogged network, some miners had objected because it could reduce transaction fees they collect."

"Meanwhile, major companies that came together on the May agreement committed to a second change by November that could still result in a split of bitcoin into two incompatible currencies if a significant number of miners don't agree.

" "The big drama has thus been postponed," Sirer said in an email Monday."

Keep in mind this is the only publication announcing this that I can find, so as always do your own research and invest carefully. Personally I've stayed away from Bitcoin as much as possible throughout the recent drama.

Sort:

I read the article and at no point are they saying that Bitcoin Cash isn't being created, but instead made the convoluted point that Bitcoin will survive this fork easily.
