Bitcoin Price Could Exceed $100,000 by 2021: Harvard Academic

Bitcoin could pass $100,000 by February 2021; a Harvard academic has said announcing Bitcoin is the first digital currency to follow Moore’s Law.

In emailed comments to Business Insider, investor Dennis Porto said that after analyzing Bitcoin’s performance, it was the “first” currency to follow the digital technology rule.

“Moore's law specifically applied to the number of transistors on a circuit but can be applied to any digital technology," Porto wrote. "Any technology that is growing exponentially (i.e., 'following Moore's law') has a doubling time."

The comments come as Bitcoin price hits new all-time highs as SegWit lock-in is set for Aug. 9.

The march towards $3,500 per coin mimics the growth rate seen by the handful of altcoins which activated SegWit earlier this year, such as Litecoin.

Porto makes the assertion that Bitcoin price has de facto doubled every eight months since its inception.

“This poses a unique opportunity for investors,” he added, something which was well-received in social media circles.

While multiple well-known commentators have contributed their opinions on how much one Bitcoin will cost in the next five or 10 years, $100,000 by 2021 is at the bolder end of the spectrum.

This week, Max Keiser repeated his faith in Bitcoin reaching $5,000 in the coming months.

could yes but that's going to take a large amount of effort and the worlds supply of money. I for sure see us hitting $25,000 - $55,000 by 2020

Hope this comes true lol.

I would be VERY surprised if BTC didn't hit $5K within the next few weeks (at most). Over $100K is still a stretch, I'd only see that as a real possibility within a few years if our entire fiat currency system exploded into inflation like the Deutschemark in the early 20's.

It will be over $300,000.00 by that date. They are not considering the panic and rush into crypto's when the corrupt global banking system weakens.

Agree, we can easy see 100k by the end of next year, especially if this year btc end with 10 000$ price. I think btc will be close to 1m$ by the 2021. When you see path of price without any significant global crises it is easy to see where will price be in 2, or 3, or 5 years. And any global crises will probably only push that price even faster.

If i'm right can i be Harvard academic also :D

True. You are actually smarter than anyone from Harvard! If BTC is $1 Million in 2021 than we will see big political turmoil like Venezuela is having. But, it could happen. Glad you and I are getting ready for what is coming

That is an amazing thought. I can't imagine how many lives it could change.

It certainly seems to be surging. If there is a problem with fiat currency then it could happen sooner. Gold may also surge especially if they can no longer manipulate it.
