Physical Gold and Digital Gold

in #bitcoin5 years ago

If you have been thinking about investing, you probably looked at gold.

Investing in gold is a really good idea, however only if you invest in physical gold. For many location independent people, investing in physical assets is a challenge, though, and a little inconvenient.

As our lives become more and more digitalised, it only makes sense that what we "value" - and how we store value - changes, too. It is therefore no surprise that Bitcoin is now regarded as "digital gold" - a store of value for the digital age.

Throughout its history, money has become more and more portable and lightweight and adapted to the needs of society. It's just natural evolution that the digital age brought forth a digital money.

What you trust more - physical gold or digital currencies - is up to you and depends on your personal values and beliefs. Naturally, the younger generations gravitate more towards Bitcoin that the older ones. Robert Kiyosaki recognises that and says, "I stick to gold. Crypto is for you young people!" :) But even he admits to having invested in cryptocurrencies, because: diversification is key.

I am grateful that I get to work with open minded members of the Generation X and even Baby Boomers, who are looking into cryptocurrencies as part of their investment portfolio.

Whatever you do, please don't put all your trust in your Fiat money (USD, EUR, GBP - whatever your local currency is). While investments always carry a certain risk, all that your savings in the bank give you, is a 100% guarantee for a loss of purchasing power (=value) over time.

You need investments in order to (at least) beat the annual inflation rate. Preferably more :)
