Think For Yourself - Stop Blaming Trevon James

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Im not on either "side" of this drama, but I do want to chime in and remind people of some facts.

All the news and drama aside, anyone upset about Bitconnect has no reason to post the blame on Trevon James and his youtube channel. Even if he did straight up say to his followers that they should buy bitconnect, he did not put a gun to your head and force you to buy. Youtube is a platform to post content, it is not a tool for determining the legitimacy or potential of an investment. There is no contractual obligation to take/give advice.

First rule in investing is do your own research. For everyone to be blaming Trevon, or anyone other than themselves for losing money, you must be incredibly amateur in the crypto space, and investing in general. If you are taking someone elses word as a decision maker for investing, then you are already putting a level of trust in that person that you should be comfortable with.

Take some responsibility for yourselves and take this as a learning opportunity.
If someone tells you they really enjoy dill pickle chips, but you personally dont enjoy them, are you going to blame and ridicule that person because you bought some dill pickle chips and then didn't enjoy them so you threw them out?

In Trevon's defense, he is right about the fact that when he was giving away coins, simply for following or liking a post of his, not a single person said "thank-you". No one talks about his charitable endeavors, and simply bash his bad decisions. Not only does he talk about bitconnect, but he discusses other coins, how to trade, what sites to use, etc.

I think people who are truly mad, specifically at Trevon, need to take a step back and own up to the fact you are a crypto noob, and an investing noob. The only person in control of your own actions is YOU. Trevon did not force anyone to do anything they didnt want to do. Each person who is mad, was expecting massive short term gains, with no risk. Any amateur investor will tell you there is no guaranteed way to get rich quick with no risk. Every single investment has risk, and if it didnt, it wouldnt be worth investing in, it would just be savings.

If you are a big fan of a car channel, and they do a review on a car that you then go out and buy, they ARE NOT responsible for that purchase. Why is it different in crypto? Most professional investors sit for hours and hours doing research and reading into companies, the people involved, etc. before making any kind of investment into the company. If you are truly in this space to benefit financially, then take some time and apply some simple investment rules. Dont just dump money into anything and everything people talk about. Find a sector that interests you, and try to research all the coins in that area, and determine for yourself some good coins. I can guarantee you will feel better about gains, and less angry about losses, because you will be able to determine for yourself what went right and what went wrong.

Im sure there's more than can be talked about, but I just wanted to take a minute to remind people that no matter what the situation is, only YOU are responsible for your actions.

Hoping people will take some time to create their own opinions and findings in crypto, and not just piggy-back onto other people and then get mad and aggressive when those decisions dont work out. Think for yourself and do some due-diligence. At the end of the day, Trevon is an internet personality, and his vlogs are for entertaining and sharing HIS personal findings. He has made some very good calls, as well as some mistakes in terms of timing the market. No one is perfect, and to chastise the kid for something he had little involvement and influence over, is incredibly immature.
