Bill Gates Called Bitcoin Dangerous to Users
Concern over the use of bitcoin was also voiced by Bill Gates. The founder of Microsoft called the anonymous nature of bitcoin can cause death directly.
The purpose of the word Gates is bitcoin is often used by some parties to buy goods that should not. That's what makes bitcoin dangerous.
"Currently cryptocurrency is used to buy fentanyl (including sedatives) including others, so this rare technology is capable of causing direct death,"
Just for information, bitcoin is sometimes used to transact drugs. Not only that, with its anonymous nature, the authorities find it difficult to track the bitcoin cycle.
That condition, according to Gates, makes cryptocurrency different from cash. Therefore, cash can be traced to its use, including where there is misuse, such as money laundering or terrorism financing.
The billionaire also mentions investing in cryptocurrency is a new idea. "I think the speculative nature of ICO and cryptocurrency is very risky," he said when answering questions in the Reddit AMA forum.
Not just a matter of bitcoin, Gates also had time to criticize about other technologies. The one that caught his eye was the super-fast train, the Hyperloop, which Elon Musk coined.
"I am not a Hyperloop concept that makes sense, it is very difficult to ensure the security of the system," he said. Nevertheless, he admits autonomous systems can have a positive impact.
** Virtual Currency Bitcoin et al Vulnerable to Malware Attack **
Not only is the value speculative, virtual currency of this kind is also vulnerable to security attacks, at least according to Kaspersky reports. Kaspersky Lab experts observe, there are so many malware attacks against this virtual currency.
For example, malware that mined bitcoin with botnet or trojan that can hack bitcoin wallet and steal bitcoin from this storage.
Not only that, there are also botnet malware that has the ability to infiltrate the victim's computer and use the victim's computer processor to be a productive bitcoin miner.
Attacks also continue to occur in the virtual currency exchange. For example the attack against the largest virtual currency exchange in the United States, BitFloor.
Because of this attack, BitFloor stopped operating in 2012, precisely after the attacker managed to infiltrate the server and stole the virtual currency worth US $ 250,000 (equivalent to Rp 3.5 billion).
General Manager of SEA Kaspersky Lab Sylvia Ng said, increasing bitcoin values make samples of bitcoin malware increasingly widespread and increasing day by day.
** BI Banned Transactions with Bitcoin **
Previously, the government through Bank Indonesia announced a strict ban on the use of virtual currency (cryptocurrency) such as bitcoin and others as a means of transaction and payment in Indonesia.
The currency is considered high risk because it does not have a regulator or administrator responsible for currency movements and underlying asset on which the valuation is based.
In addition, the government is also wary of virtual currency is used as an instrument of money laundering and financing terrorism.
Just to note, the early gait of virtual currency started in 2008 which is the result of research of a person or a group under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto.
This virtual currency uses a database that is distributed and spreads to the nodes of a peer-to-peer network to a transaction journal, and uses cryptography to provide basic security functions.
For example, such as ensuring that bitcoin can only be spent by the owner, and not allowed to be done more than once. Because of its anonymous nature and can be stored on personal computers, more and more people are interested in investing bitcoin.
However, this virtual currency can also be used as an instrument of money laundering and terrorism financing. Therefore, the government warns the public not to trade, buying and selling bitcoins.
