I agree that Bitcoin is more like Digital Gold, more suited for long term holding rather than something a bit more suited for many small transactions. IMHO, that isn't a bad thing that Bitcoin transactions are so expensive, it is just changes the types of transaction types you make with it - Bitcoin for very large transactions (large home appliances, cars, real estate, etc.), and other currencies for the smaller (coffee, movie tickets, groceries, etc.), everyday stuff.
