Timing Is Success

From sports, music, conversation, space exploration, your job, catching the bus, and even investing: Timing is the difference between success and complete failure.

This was a lesson taught to me many years ago by a relative, and I always hold the concept close at heart.

Every moment of every day there is opportunity passing by us. Imagine that opportunity is a city bus. To catch that bus, you need to wait at a bus stop, and you need to be there at the right time. Show up 10 seconds late? you missed your ride. You could show up 20 minutes early, wait for 19 minutes and become impatient. You start walking away and in the distance you hear the bus breaking at the bus stop, but you're too far away to run back and catch it.

Opportunity follows the same idea. You might only get one opportunity in your life to do something, and if you aren't ready for it, you might not catch it. Heck, you might not even be aware you had an opportunity.

I'm reminded of this lesson today as I watch the cryptocurrency markets. Bitcoin has had a massive run, and made a big wave. That wave is rippling out and new capital is finding its way into altcoins, propelling new heights for them as well. While Bitcoin was a massive opportunity, I'm glad I am diversified across a number of altcoins, because that bus is leaving the station soon for some coins.
