Ripple and XRP in a Nutshell

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Ripple (XRP) is one of the hottest cryptocurrencies, but it is also one of the most controversial. Ripple offers faster (near instant) transactions with a very low cost - but with a significant trade-off of centralization and private nodes.

Thanks for this video Michael. It shows why its stupid to hold XRP. Its made for transfers, not to hold and accumulate value.

And the fact that it is centralized is the biggest turn off ever.

Other cryptos like Bitshares and steem have free transactions as well. Yes they take three seconds, which is longer, but if you are complaining about three seconds then you are really picky... we don't need shorter transaction times.

Ripple is for the banks. Fuck the banks, fuck ripple. I bought just for profit and i am about to sell and take the gain. For a real crypto alternative, i would recommend Stellar.

great info

What's the difference between Ripple and Fiat?

Ripple is even more centralized... lol. Dash is the solution for global payments.

One of my biggest regrets from 2017. Ripple was there for the taking at around $0.20 for such a long time. But I didn't buy... because I didn't like the organisation behind it. Especially in a very few people holding huge percentages.

In retrospect I "should have" (we hear a lot of this) bought anyway. For strategic purposes, we should have a certain percentage in the coins and tokens that are consistently in the Top 10 in market cap and volume. Lesson learned.

Great informative video. XRP could definitely go either way. Would be nice to know how much banks have invested. If all their XRP was free it doesn't really give them much incentive to adopt. If all the banks can agree to run an exchange and nodes then there my be nothing to stop XRP taking off.

I think Ripple can be the first one to actually catch on and stick. But i could be wrong
