Fake news or not---being influenced into hardware wallets &/or paper wallets--is a GOOD THING. Paper wallets generated under strict safety protocols are probably more secure than anything. They do not require a proprietary device to access your funds. It would truly suck to have to hunt down a specific device in difficult times to be able to have access to funds. Another thing to consider---what if Nano & or Trezor went out of business. The devices themselves would then become a high store of value to the community that depends upon them.
MyEtherWallet is trash, always getting hacked. Always people loosing their tokens, we need a better option.
It is not MEW itself.
When users are aware and able to detect potential attacks it is safe :)
