If You Listened to Nouriel Roubini in 2013, You Lost Out 108x Return on Bitcoin

Nouriel Roubini, a professor at Stern School and a widely recognized economist, has condemned the crypto and Bitcoin industry, falsely characterized Ethereum as a scam, and described builders in the blockchain space as “greedy kids” looking to print money out of nowhere.

If investors listened to the advice of Roubini in 2013, they would have lost out on a 108x times return on investment, as the price of Bitcoin has increased from $58 to around $6,300.

At its peak in December 2017, the price of Bitcoin achieved $20,000, demonstrating a 344 times return on investment. On April 16, 2013, Nouriel said:

Nouriel Roubini when Bitcoin was $600:

"Bitcoin is a scam! a ponzi scheme!"

If you listened to him back then, you lost out on an investment opportunity with a 11x three-year return.

Over the past 72 hours, Roubini has continued to make several incorrect claims about crypto and public blockchain networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Subsequent to mischaracterizing Bitcoin as a Ponzi scheme by claiming the transaction fee is $55–when it is, in fact, $0.06 according to Blockchain.info–Roubini bizarrely claimed that Ethereum is a pre-mine scam because it allowed Vitalik Buterin, a co-creator of Ethereum, to become a billionaire.
