Bitcoin Pizza Day: The Worst Investment in History?
The What-if Investment
Anyone remember Laszlo Hanyecz? Laszlo is a software engineer who was one of the earliest investors in Bitcoin. Believing that one day BTC would be used as an everyday currency, he chose to purchased two Papa Johns pizzas with Bitcoin back in 2010. How much did he spend on these two pizzas?
10,000 BTC. At today's price of $8,000, this was the equivalent of $80 million. The problem was that he did not stop with just those two pizzas. He has reportedly purchased over 100,000 Bitcoin worth of pizza over the first few years. Had Laszlo held on to all of this BTC, he would be valued at over $800 million. What a crazy let down it must have been for him.
What did Laszlo say
He did a recent interview with CNN and discussed this story:

Laszlo notes that he does not regret his decision. He admits that he tries not to think how rich he could be now, he also points out that he is proud to have been a supporter of the cryptocurrency at its dawn.
