Brave Browser Review - Bitcoin-Based Open Source Privacy-Focused Browser
I tried out the new browser from Brave Software and It is a nice browser. They announced with Coindesk on Wednesday that they will be partnering up. You can read my previous post. https://steemit.com/news/@bitcoinparadise/open-source-privacy-focused-browser
The new tab has a nice background that changes each time you open a new tab and after a couple uses, your privacy stats show up.
When you visit sites, you will see what is called "brave shields" settings button be active and from there you can set if you want more or less restrictions.
On the top right menu button, going to settings then selecting payments options to the left is where you can enable the option to deposit your funds to payout sites you have visited with having an ad-free experience.
Here you can see when you add funds, they made it simple to deposit bitcoins if you already have or not. They have a payment option to use your debit/credit card if you have an account with Coinbase. I was thinking why Steemit could not have some thing like this but from what I understand, we are looking to do it without having to do it with Coinbase.
The wallets on Brave browser is provided by BitGo
One question I had I was able to find it in the FAQ page.
Where does my money go if publishers are not part of this program yet?
The contributions for each user, upon reconciliation, is sent to a bitcoin escrow wallet which is securely managed by Brave Software, Inc. When contributions for an individual publisher are equal to about $10.00 USD (in BTC, of course), an email is sent to both the webmaster of the site and the registered domain owner, and the verification process begins.
Overall the browser is quick and smooth. The first start of the browser I noticed is a little longer than opening other browsers but the experience is nice. The page-loading time is rather quick without needing to load ads.
I am currently making my first deposit and trying the browser. This is a great start of a new change and we will see where this can go.
