KeepKey Review - Bitcoin Hardware Wallet

Keepkey was my first hardware wallet I bought to store bitcoin and other digital currencies. This is a review of the KeeyKey wallet and the features it has along with how to use it.

The Pros

  • Very secure wallet for offline storage
  • Digital Screen Display
  • Metal body for durability
  • As of 7-13-2017 This hardware wallet can store
    Bitcoin
    Dash
    Dogecoin
    Ethereum
    Litecoin
  • Easy recovery granted you log your recovery sentence and keep it safe
  • Malware and Virus Proof

The Cons

How it works

KeeyKey comes with a USB connector that can be connected to a Mac, PC Linux computer. Once connected this provides power to the device and will prompt a display on the screen for KeepKey. You will need to have downloaded the plugin for chrome before accessing the device and your coins.

Full setup instructions are found on their website at https://www.keepkey.com/support/get-started/

Once you connect to the device a random address will be generated for each of the coins you wish to store.

If you wish to send bitcoin or the other coins off the wallet to another wallet this is easily done by logging into your keep key wallet, selecting the digital currency you want to move and then confirming the transaction.

This might all sound very simple and that is because it is! There is not much to the wallet but the security of it both software and hardware is amazing. The simplicity of it also make it easy for anyone to grasp and start storing and trading digital currencies. Out of all of the hardware wallets I have I find this one to be the most secure and also the easiest to setup and use.
