Bitcoin 2x Canceled! Was this a ploy to drive the price to all time highs for larger profits?

Politics, media, and people's emotions seem to drive the price in any market. This especially seems to be the case with cryptocurrencies. With this in mind i can't help but wonder if this segwit2x was just another ploy to gain hype and drive the price of Bitcoin, sell before they announce their cancellation, and then buy back in for a better position on bitcoin knowing that the price will drop quickly after announcing their cancelation. We all know that Segwit isn't going anywhere so what's going to happen if and when they decide to announce another date for their actual hard fork? This will most likely drive the price to all time highs once again!

If we take a look at when China decided to ban Bitcoin in their country the price of Bitcoin dropped significantly. Was this another ploy to drop the price and buy a better position? I can't really say but it makes me wonder. While China may have valid reasons for their ban, they have to know that Bitcoin is here to stay. Cryptocurrencies are here to stay. This is an exciting time where technology is going places we have never seen before so I can understand how this can intimidate people but I would think it's best to adapt and keep growing. What are your thoughts?
