We exist to help all you new bitcoin users stay safe while you find your feet
New to Bitcoin - Welcome, and please read on, it's worth it
In 2013, having discovered bitcoin and crytocurrency, I quickly lost most of what I'd bought simply by sending it to thieves and fraudsters who made very credible claims!
Now I'm an intelligent guy, with over 30 years in IT for many of the Majors, and if I can be mis-sold, then I figured you can too. Sure enough, when I asked around my peers, many had also lost bits of their bitcoin to similar scams.
That isn't what bitcoin is about!
We decided we would put up a webpage, and start to collate these frauds into an easily accessible list, but had no idea how many we were going to find when we started looking. It is currently a list of over 4300 fraudsites - all after Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin or Zcash. We will also add other credible coins as they happen, and we already have a BCH fraud listed!
Our team is made up of volunteers, experts and contributors from the entire cryptocurrency community, and we'd appreciate your input as well. Report any site that has robbed you, or that you think looks suspicious, we'll do the rest. Also, check our badlist, read the Tips page and above all stay safe.
There are literally thousands of scams out there trying to catch you - Our aim is to make it as difficult for them as we can. We can't stop them, and we aren't the law, nor do we have the power to take sites down, but we do try.
Another thing that neither we, nor anybody else can do, is get your bitcoin back once you've sent it, and that is why you need to be absolutely certain before you do. There are some ingenious ways that these scammers will use to steal your bitcoin, your logins and passwords, and anything you have!
If you come across a crypto site that you want to invest or exchange to, and the site isn't in our badlist, but is cryptocurrency related - just ask us, and we'll look into it for you.
We are also here to clear a path for the good actors, and we have a safelist especially for those sites that have proven themselves to be of good intent.
