I don't see any reason to call "Bitcoin dead" from this chart.
There can be all sorts of reasons why the number of transactions waiting to be confirmed has dropped. One of which is that there has been a good increase in hash power.
Lots of things have been happening over the last couple of months, so there is no surprise that things have been changing rapidly. In fact, take out the broad spikes and the graph becomes quite linear. It just depends on what time frame we are talking about.
