People will probably make less over time as they share the reward pool with more people however the value of the currency will probably increase.
Similar to bitcoin mining.
I think in the long term, high quality posts and comments will make a lot more money, while the average user not so much. The Steem platform has monetization opportunities through purchasing Steem/ Steem Power, ads and probably some other sources.
