Blockchain, cryptocurrency and true democracy

Time tells a story, and we get to witness it. We can look back onto stories already told and we can also look ahead to some stories that could be told in the future... and sometimes, with a bit of foresight, we can speculate what is to be.

I am very enthusiastic about Bitcoin, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency in general and I am looking at what the future may have in store for us.

My generation has serious trust issues when it comes to government, banks, politicians, doctors and anything that has become "systematic". This list of things that have become part of "the system" that we are seeing cause great damage to society, humanity, the planet etc is huge. Big pharmaceutical companies are in the pockets of health practitioners who now would rather push a pill at you than diagnose and treat an illness. Genetically modified foods that have the ability to withstand pesticides are commonplace. Profits from oil companies and banks are in the billions every quarter while the environment suffers alongside many struggling to stay above the poverty line.

I am not writing to pain a grim picture of the world... quite the contrary. For every negative thing I have listed above, there has been a reaction by people (often at a grassroots level). Holistic health and alternative medicines are on the rise as a reaction to corrupt medicine practices. There are many organic and non-gmo foods that are being labelled to give consumers a choice and whenever there is tragedy, the resilience of humanity shines and restores our faith.

These reactions to the negative systematic machine, which seems to be only interested in profit and power and more of it are a glimpse at the coming of a true democracy. People who do not want to eat genetically modified foods or numb themselves with whatever pill has been pushed on them have an alternative. They get to vote with their dollars. This is the true voice of the people... true democracy. I say true democracy, because, much like all the other systematic shortfalls in our society... the democratic system could hardly pass as a democratic system.

There was always one gaping void in our alternatives. Money. Sure, we could put our money into precious metals or something like that... but if we needed to pay for rent or groceries... of life, the metals had to be sold for cash. With the rise of Bitcoin, and all cryptocurrencies... we now have a real alternative to money... which also has become a victim of the systems corruption.

These days central banks have a license to print money, and they do it... and in turn devalue our hard work while rewarding the financial elite through inflation. Add corporate tax breaks and corrupt governments and all 3 of these institutions in bed together and the common people do not stand a chance.

Now, we can vote with our dollars to render them useless. We can vote the banks out of our financial realities and we can allow corrupt governments to see how little they can see about our financial reality and move things into the 21st century. The more people move their money into cryptocurrency and seek to support business that supports cryptocurrency... the more they are voting out the powers that be.

I for one am very enthusiastic about cryptocurrency, not for the vast fortune that I am destined to hold (although I welcome that too)... but for what it means for our world. The central banking system combined with corrupt governments that are bought off to support a corrupt corporate structure finally has an alternative.

We can buy non-gmo food to have our say in the GMO food debate. It won't get rid of GMO foods (until everyone votes with their dollars that way). We can choose to drive an electric car or put solar panels on our house or move to an "off grid" lifestyle and essentially have our say in where we stand with big-oil and environmental issues... and, thankfully, now, we can begin to vote central banks and fiat currency out by choosing not only to invest in cryptocurrency, but also by using it. The more we use it, the less dependant on the dollar we become.

When you find a food vendor that accepts Bitcoin, you no longer need to spend money at the supermarket. When you can find ways to make all of your expenses payable with Bitcoin... you have become your own bank. When people realize that what they choose is their vote... and that they can essentially decide what should stay and what should go... we take our power back... Once we have taken our power back, we realize how much change one person can make.

This is the rise of a true democracy... where people's every action speaks about the world they choose to live in... the world they want to see and want to create. The world I want to create has me in control of my own finance, completely decentralized and untied from government clutches. In the past, people formed groups that raised money to take care of important things like schools and roads etc... with the rise of kickstarter and common sense... we can rid ourselves of the illusion that taxes are necessary... Paying for things like roads and education etc is necessary... but we are capable of managing these things. The world I want to see also includes hemp/cannabis replacing timber barons, pharmaceutical giants, tobacco, cotton and oil... but that is for another article. Hemp and Bitcoin... coming soon to a Steemit near you!

The rise of true democracy begins with the realization that you have a big say in how your world should be everyday, not every four years... and making decisions based on the great power bestowed upon you. With great power comes great responsibility (thanks Uncle Ben)... let's use that power wisely and create a better tomorrow... I will be trying to use more bitcoin and less money for one.

The revolution is well underway!

That's a good reminder that we vote with our money. This post reminds that I need to download a safe wallet

Ya... That is where we really make decisions. Not every 4 years in a set up environment.

Interesting: buying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to make a statement to the world. If done by sufficient people, the signal would be huge. Talks about the use of negative interest rates in the next crisis, can only lead to more people 'defecting' to the cryptocurrency camp. The future is bright.

Currency was really the last "alternative" that did not exist... and it is on the brink at this point (I say that because it is still a tall order to get paid in Bitcoin and be able to pay for all you need to with only crypto... we are close)... It is bright indeed. Thank you for reading.

followed and upvoted you,if you want to know about steemit tricks, please follow me...!!!

Real democracy is direct democracy.. check my earliest posts.. steemit is fatally flawed and truly undemocratic..

You definitely have a point. There are many flaws with this platform. I feel that it is a reflection of what is happening globally as well... The rich are getting richer and can buy influence. I feel that there are a lot of people on here that are putting in work and seeing some decent payouts... but there is certainly a skewed power dynamic favouring those with huge amounts of steempower (the rich or early steem users/devs).

It is an experiment in a free market with uneven distribution (and robots). It very well could fail in the coming months or years... it might not, and that depends on how well the platform adjusts to the changing climate and the demands / needs of the users... it is interesting if nothing else.

I appreciate your comment and looked into some of your content. Thank you.

My earliest posts are all about direct democracy. Steemit whitepaper is a document that talks about voting and consensus. I assumed that they wanted to be democratic but that is not the reality. People with steem power can make big money and manipulate the ability of lower balances to make less. its not one man one vote... the steemit experience is like the real world where the rich entrenched have more power and manipulate the system... steemit sounds cools but its a pyramid scheme.. check one of my recent posts to an article about how the founders are each syphoning off 2 million bucks a week from steemit
