Michael Edward Novogratz, This macro hedge-funder turned blockchain enthusiast is a born storyteller, serving his audience with humor and knowledge.

BLOCKCHAIN BACKGROUND
In 2012, during the financial crisis, he got a call from a friend who suggested him Bitcoin. As a currency investor, he was immediately attracted to it. He wasn’t too sure about the long-term stability , but he instantly saw the bubble-potential in near future.

He is the founder and CEO of Galaxy Digital, a NYC-based merchant bank dedicated to digital assets and blockchain technology. In 2017, he planned to launch a crypto-focused hedge fund.

Bitcoin
“Like most investors with an institutional background, I see Bitcoin as digital and decentralized gold.”

Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies
“In 15 years, cryptocurrency and the blockchain will significantly change the internet — the global network will become internet 3.0.”
“Almost every single database will be a blockchain”

Regulation
“Regulators had to get involved and will be involved. They will go for fraud and market manipulation and that is a good thing.”
He also correctly predicted that regulators would say that Ethereum was a security, but is not anymore.

Risk Management
“Every investor should have 1%-2% of their portfolio in cryptocurrency. Not to do so would be almost irresponsible.”
Mike himself has invested around 10% of his net worth in cryptocurrencies.

Skeptics
“In a lot of ways, this is a Millennial-led revolution … what I’ve found is guys with gray hair are much more skeptical.”

Institutional Money
“Institutional money will go in soon and markets will go way ahead of reality again. They are doing their work and research and they are ready to pull the trigger.”
