Let's Celebrate Genesis Block Day With Captain Drakins!

It was eight years ago today that Satoshi taught the world to pay. On January 3rd, 2009, the very first Bitcoin block was mined, the so called Genesis Block. 

To prove that the block was not mined beforehand, Satoshi included a message, which was the headline of that day's Times: "Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks". 

It was surely not by accident that Satoshi chose a headline that refers to the evils of the current financial system run by banks and governments. Genesis Block Day marks the beginning of a new era, not just for the financial world, but for humankind in general. 

Bitcoin has brought us the first system to reach consensus and to transfer value globally without the need for middlemen like banks and governments. One cannot underestimate the importance of this!

There is still a long way to go before the whole world uses cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. The tools are there, and they are constantly being refined and developed. Now it is mostly a task of communication. We need to explain how cryptocurrencies and the Blockchain work to normal users.
