RE: Is it better to follow or be followed?
hi @plushzilla and thanks for this post, it is an interesting analysis. I have a lot of dead followers
Its also nice to see a new entry to the #bisteemit tag. If you are interested there is a weekly bisteemit contest, you should consider entering
Hi @paulag, thanks for the comments. I think the definition of dead followers requires a little bit of looking into. My instinct is that the definition of last post/vote occurring 1/2/3/4 months ago might relate to different types of followers, and as the number of people you follow/follow you increases it becomes difficult to respond to them frequently.
At some point I'll be able to spend more time doing a longer piece, but right now I am trying to build up interest in greenfield topics like #infographics and helping out with utopian.io. I have been reading through conversations in Discord so I can see what everyone else is doing as well; I think #bisteemit is an exciting area and you have done such a good job promoting it :)
Just while I remember, I think when I tried to do some analysis comparing the % of 'dead' followers for the top ranked users by # of follower versus # of people they follow, it seemed like top ranked users by % of 'dead' followers was lower, which I guess makes sense since you want to follow active users and curate or comment on their posts.
Again I would like to do a more comprehensive analysis at some point, but perhaps I will instead suggest analysis that people in #bisteemit might want to try for now while I also try to build some audience.
