It was a display of glamour, refined taste and colour , yet laced with some dose of piety. Indeed the 70th birthday bash of madam NUSIRAT ABIKE, a businesswoman,today 13rd of October,2017 at the akinorun Grammer School,Ikirun. Stretched the word grandiose to it's full limit. Right from the rousing thanksgiving service that was held at the porch, overlooking the lagoon, it was clear to all that the celebration would be anything but ordinary.
Not even the tastefully dressed guests, clad in various grads that exhausted the rainbow colours, came close to eclipsing the mesmerizing array of events.
From 12 noon when a stirring hymn, "In praise of Our Creator" flagged off the thanksgiving service, guests were serenaded in islamic celebration of God's goodness to the celebrant. Several hymns were rendered in praise of God, portions of the Qu'ran were read to edify women, prayers offered to keep the tempter at bay, while a stirring message was delivered.
Indeed God had been given His due and as the thanksgiving service petered out to a cocktail party, guest guests were treated to endless flow of champagne, red wine and snack's, at the foyer, while a standing band rendered uplifting song's. A reception party at the main hall of Akinorun Grammer School,Ikirun and supplanted the cocktail party which lasted about an hour. There, another band , complemented by two comedian ensured that the guests had no dull moment.
There was also a special traditional rendition by the ivory Ambassadors Dance company, National theater , Which got the celebrate and her family dancing with joy.
Yet the symbolism of the occasion was not lost amidst the colour and entertainment. madam Nusirat , while responding , attributed her success not to any dint of hard work rather to the mercies of God. "Everything that was achieved is not due to the fact that she is smart, or strong or clever. God has been good to me .God has been used people to establish His will in her life, "she said, a career diploma and chairman of the event,jovial, simple and humble.No wonder we admire her and count ourselves lucky to be her son, " she said.
