HOW HARD IS IT TO BE AN IT ? MY BIRTHDAY THOUGHT

Tonight, January 21, 2018 (Sunday) at exactly 12:17am [Philippine Time] when a question suddenly pops out in my mind

How hard is it to be an IT ?

I was a graduating student of the course Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or "BSIT/IT" major in Computer Programming. I'm on the last phase of my college life and now making my thesis project, I used to work in this project after I eat my lunch all the way to dawn and sleeps mostly when the sun will rise

I don't know, I was one of the typical programmers who say that nights are more productive than days. I feel that I can make three times my output when I work at night comparing when I work at day. I used to write codes with a notebook at my side, its because many ideas (about programming) comes to me to the point that I can't remember it all. I was on my peak, meaning I have the momentum in writing codes when I suddenly look at the clock. Its 12:17am meaning its my birthday

Twenty-two years of existence in our world and yet what am I doing ? I was in-front of my computer rushing my thesis project so that I can graduate on time. Then a thought cross my mind, "Being a computer programmer is really hard, being a computer programmer takes your life, being a computer programmer takes your right to celebrate even in your birthday 😂 😂 😂" Yes, you read it right, I'm not planning in celebrating, I plan to continue writing codes for my project. To not break my momentum I just plan to write an article about my thought and just write the topic as a note

Not to long, and my momentum was off 😂 I now can't focus my self on what I am doing so I decide to just write the blog I'm planning to make

First of all let me greet my self a Happy Birthday, congratulations on me for my twenty-second year of existence, congratulations for being the last phase of your college life
So how hard is it to be an IT ? or should I say how hard is it to "ME" being an IT ?
First let me introduce to you in my world, what is Information Technology ?

Information Technology or IT refers to anything related to computing technology, such as networking, hardware, software, the Internet, or simple the people that work with these technologies reference.
So basically as an IT student I work with these technologies
Why am I here ? is it because I like it ? is it because I love computer programming ? software developing ? networking (not a pyramid scam 😂 or in the Philippines we say it "OPEN MINDED KA BA ?? (ARE YOU OPEN MINDED ??)")
When I was a kid, I love inventions, robotic inventions that will help the community, the country. So I dream to be one. I dream to develop my own robot that will help people, so I decided that I wanna be a computer engineer

Year 2012 when I finish my highschool, I have graduated with an honor. I was very happy that time, I don't expect to even have at least one medal so it makes me very happy. But that happiness instantly fade as my father said that they can't manage sending me to college. The main reason is financial problem, they don't have the capability to support my college life. It was hard for me, no it was very very very hard for me but I accept the fact that we don't have money so I decide to have a work.
One year have passed very quick and I find my university, however due to lack of money they can't allow me to take the course that I want so I decided to became an Information Technology Student having a major of computer programming. This is my pick because it is related to computer technology like the computer engineering course. Also i decide to finish the course and then take a computer engineering course as many of my subjects will be credited. That is my initial plan, finish information technology and take computer engineering right after it.
My first semester was really hard as i don't understand what is really happening. I don't understand computer programming at all, add to my problem that I don't have my own computer
What the hell will I do if I don't have a computer ? how can I run my codes ? Do I need to write it in a piece of paper, put it in a toy car and make it run ? that's the question running on my mind.
I feel like I was entering a war armed with my bare hands and my opponents are using cannons and rifles

Our project has come and I don't know anything about it, luckily I pass with the help of my friends, coz I really don't understand it. A thought cross my mind, can I really learn it ?
My parents notice that I'm having hard time in my studies so they decided to borrow a netbook to my cousin
luckily they got one, and let me use it for a while, but the thought is still in my mind so i tell them straight just to be fair

"Maybe I'm not made to be a programmer, also i don't like to be a one too, what I want to be is an engineer"
My father's voice was broke when he speak . . .
"Son, do you really think that I don't want you to become an engineer ? Of course I want to give the things you want, but I'm not capable of doing it"
then a tear drops in his eyes, as well as my mother teary eyed in his side
I just bow and take the netbook of my cousin, how stupid am I ?
Yes its hard to study computer programming, but its way harder to send your son to a school

When the second semester of my first year come, I dedicated my self in studying programming
I read books, surf the internet and even watch video tutorials, and finally I learned how to write codes, I go back to my first semester's activities and solve it and luckily I succeeded, but another problem has come. Month of September year 2013 my mother was confined in the hospital and undergo an operation to her large intestine
The outcome of the operation was both successful and devastating
Successful because my mother is now safe and Devastating because we loan to different people just to make the operation. I didn't blame anyone with what happen, I didn't blame god and just thank him that my mother was alive and still breathing. But again I was forced to stop as we was buried in our debt. I find a job and help to pay as soon as possible. I worked in a company, and almost became a regular employee
why is that ? its because I have a cousin working also in that company and it was in the policy that relatives are not allowed there, so I make way for my cousin for her to be the regular employee. Maybe its a sign from above for me to study again, but I doubt as I start earning money, studying didn't became my priority. Then after my contract ends I find another job
I loved my work, I earn money, I have friends but I was being stepped
There's a man said that I can't be successful, yes I might became a regular employee but that is all. He said that its impossible for me to be promoted to a higher position. I was the kind of person who treasures my pride so I was hurt.
Right after that day I pass my resignation letter to the company, and before I left the company I find the man who stepped my pride and I said. . .
"Stay there, and after 10 years I'll be back to show you what I've got"

[Overnight Programming]
I get back to school, with a second hand laptop I but from my earnings when I still have a job. I keep up with the lectures and activities we are doing. I see my self to my other classmates and friends whom can't cope up in our daily activities so I try my very best to help them. We conduct overnights in developing our projects, so I can help them. Last quarter of my second year and my laptop got broken, luckily I was still able to finish my project. With this reason I decided to have a part-time work in a fast-food chain. It's for me to buy a new laptop coz the final quarter of my college life is near to come. I need to provide my own laptop that can handle my projects

I apply as a service crew in McDonalds, the restaurant manager's are truly kind that they let students like me to have adjustable working hours. They give consideration to all crews that needed their consideration, but being a service crew is really hard. I have work as a service crew for exactly 16 months and I feel like dying. I go to school from 7 am in the morning and go to work at 4 pm. I was always on the closing schedule and got home 11 pm. After that I will make my projects, assignments and activities in the school so I will go to bed at 3 am.
This is my way of living for the last 16 months that I work as a service crew, but all things in the world have ending. The reason why I stopped working as a service crew is because I got robbed when I was on my way home from my work

It's been exactly 5 months since I last go to the store, however I manage to provide a brand new laptop for my school projects. I want to express my gratitude to my managers who help me when I was still in McDonalds
Now I'm on the last semester of my 4th year in college, I wish to finish it this coming May
Hopefully no future problems will come

I gone through many hard times in my journey as a college student, but all those problems was solved and help me to become who I am. I think that this problems and hardships come to me so that I still continue my studies and don't give up.

Lesson Learned : Problems do come, yes but there is always a solution. How hard your problem might be, don't ever dare to quit.
