✔️The Eurasian nuthatch or wood nuthatch (Sitta europaea)
Broad-shouldered, with short but very tenacious legs. This allows him to move around the tree in any position and in any direction. His long, straight and sharp beak is like a chisel, with the help of which he can easily grind the dense shells of seeds, hazelnuts, and insect pupae. Exploring the bark, he taps his beak like a woodpecker, or sticks it into a slot to widen the hole or break off a scale.
The nuthatch is omnivorous, in summer he feeds on insects, and with the arrival of autumn ihet switches to plant food. By the way, sometimes he is forced to swallow small stones, which allow him to grind solid plant food in his stomach.
In these photos, as you can see, I treated him to sunflower seeds.
