The common starling (Sturnus vulgaris)
This friend, as usual, roamed the earth in search of caterpillars.
In the spring, when it is already warm enough, the earthworms crawl out of the ground to the surface. And become victims of starlings :)
This behavior of the bird could not be unnoticed by people in the old days.
And to save the harvest from pests, people built birdhouses, which starlings really need. Alas, many have forgotten the origins of this tradition, but continue to put birdhouses just to help the birds.
