It is recognized that mandarin ducks are one of the most beautiful ducks.
From spring until late autumn, the male "dresses" in bright plumage to attract the female.
The female looks very modest. This means that the choice is always hers and that the female takes care of the offspring.
In those species in which the partners share the care of the offspring equally, males and females look about the same.
