Hummingbirds are so brave and I really admire their spirit. Just think how big the world looks in their eyes!
I am fortunate to have the Anna's hummingbirds in my yard year around. They seem so fragile and playful, yet the hummingbird is one tough bird. They don't scare easily from other birds or people and will defend their territory fiercely. Perhaps they don't know how tiny they really are.
Have you ever heard a high pitched whistle when they are around? The males are showing off during courting. They will fly very high and dive-bomb down and to exhibit their skills. You can hear the wind whistle through the flared tail feathers which actually sounds like a chirp. I'm sure the females are impressed and think that is so sexy!
Here is one of a thousand photos I have taken. They certainly are photogenic!
Nice capture, have you seen the tick tack like eggs they lay?
Yes, so precious and tiny.
