I've started to see a specific Wood Stork visit a pond near my local coffee spot.

I found it interesting that he was working the pond in a counter-clockwise rotation with my friend Snowy, the Snowy Egret.

Similar to the Roseate Spoonbill (see my previous post), the Wood Stork would push their entire bill into the muck and sift through it.

I was able to get quite close while it was doing this and it didn't seem to mind... until it realized that Snowy had flown to the other side of the pond.

The Wood Stork then flew over to join his little buddy and they started their counter-clockwise circle again. What a cute and unlikely pair they made!

We have both birds here in Suriname as well but I haven't seen a wood stork yet. Their numbers are steadily declining unfortunately. Great post.
