Staring right at the camera.

The Common Yellowthroat is a very common new-world warbler in much of North America, and though the winter in my area in very small numbers occasionally, they return in numbers about this time of year. It is hard to go out in a wetland area without hearing the loud, vibrant "Witchity-witchity-witchity" song. Their call note is also a loud harsh distinctive check note. That said it is the adult male's plumage that wows birders and non-birders alike. They are brilliant yellow, with a bold white-bordered black mask. I have here several photos of the same individual male to have fun looking at him from various perspectives.

A nice side-view look.

These guys can be hard to find in their typical dense brushy habitat. Though tough to photograph in these circumstances, this is a pretty typical view.

Good birding, and if you are in the right range, good luck on seeing a Common Yellowthroat.

Steem on!
