- BIP 148 is a forced activation of Segregated Witness (a Bitcoin scaling solution). Forced, because miners (at the moment) cannot come to consensus on how to properly scale Bitcoin. In my opinion this is an issue that needs to be salved swiftly. If we want bitcoin to become the disruption that we all know it can be, I believe action must be taken. But for now, heres a video on how to protect yourself during this soft fork on August, 1st 2017. Hope you enjoy!
